More than 20 years in the design industry, all of them either in full time employment or freelance contract, have afforded me a wealth of skills and understanding that I’m able to utilise for the benefit of clients on a daily basis.
Embracing the mac as a design tool in 1991, my understanding of the various creative programmes and productivity software currently available, has assured me a very interesting and fruitful career to date.
Projects tackled have included exhibition design & implementation, brand identity, advertising, direct marketing, integrated campaigns and corporate brochures & annual reports, utilising print, web, video and radio.
A broad mix of creativity and pre-press production techniques give me the ability to bring creative projects in on-time and on-budget, whilst at all times aiming to exceed client expectations.
My understanding of the project requirements versus available budgets conundrum has resulted in many successful relationships with small, to mid-sized, start-up business that I've been proud to watch grow over the years.

As a larger further education college with a hugely diverse and varied curriculum offer we have a broad target market. The marketing team face ongoing and continual challenges with student recruitment at the centre of the future sustainability of the college.
Marketing campaigns need to be relevant to the target market and with shrinking budgets they need to be measurable and more importantly, succeed! Mike has been our go to designer on our biggest and most successful projects including our Full Time prospectus for the past two years and numerous design and branding campaigns. Mike is solution focused and supports from the initial objective and target through to the implementation of an integrated, campaign based solution, that we can show helped us achieve our targets.

As a civil engineering business you can appreciate that our expertise in marketing and brand awareness is limited. However, this all changed when we met Mike Higgs. We originally commissioned Mike for the the design and installation of a sign for our new head office building in St Albans, Hertfordshire. Impressed with his work, we then asked him to develop a new identity for the company. During the design stages, the presentations were excellent and clearly demonstrated that the dialect between both parties was transparent.
Being a perfectionist, Mike would always explore other possibilities for the design, and most importantly explain the real world application when rolling the new identity across the business. This was fundamental to our brief as it had to be cost effective.

As the manager of a busy marketing department, I thank my lucky stars I know Mike Higgs. Firstly, Mike has been integral in our corporate branding projects, he offers a consistent design approach with a logical head. It’s taken some time to roll out our new branding through various channels and our catalogues / material now look fantastic.
Secondly, although we have some design skills in-house, there are numerous occasions we can’t manage something, don’t have time, or want something to look immaculate.
